The Situation

Emerging Destinations was hired as the North American MarketRepresentative for a new cruise line, Iceland ProCruises. The company is part of the Iceland Pro group of companies, and had 7 offices in Europe and very little US presence. We started work 11 months before the first cruise.

We had to work fast to reach tour operators and travel agents to work to fill the ship.

We targeted our extensive network of contacts and through sales calls, trade shows, web training and a monthly Small Cruise Ship newsletter.  We started the process of membership in consortia that fit their budget.

With a budget of less than $100,000 (including our fees), in our first year we had 40% of the cruise lines sales. This past year, the North American market was responsible for 65%of their sales.
